5-9 Day Mt. Kilimanjaro Trek
Kilimanjaro offers the chance to scale to the "roof of Africa". The highest peak and most famous mountain in Africa, it is a heavy challenge, more from the rigors of altitude than the actual hike itself. The climb takes hikers through thick forests and alpine grasslands, desolate rockface and brilliant white glaciers.
Views of Kenya and the Masaai Steppe, the Crater Highlands, and the Eastern Arc Mountain Range expand from the summit, and unlike other comparable peaks, you don't need ropes or climbing equipment to make it to the top. As long as you pace yourself and take it easy at high altitudes, you have every reason to think you can reach the summit.
While on the trek, accommodations include huts on the Marangu Route. The Lemosho, Machame, and Rongai route require camping. Tents, sleeping bags, and sleeping pads are available for rent. Porters' payment included in tour fee. Hiring porters are an excellent way to provide employment and assist local economies.
