Crater & Serengeti Safari — 6 days

Where: Ngorongoro Crater & Serengeti National Park

Type of Travel Experience: Customized for the traveler with limited time, but interested in spending time in the Serengeti, as well as visiting the other highlights of Northern Tanzania. Travelers will also experience a tented safari.

Day 1 ~ Arrive Kilimanjaro International Airport. Transport to Kia Lodge where you spend the remainder of the afternoon by the pool or at your leisure. Enjoy the beautiful landscaping. Dinner and overnight at Kia Lodge.

Day 2 ~ Early departure for full day in Ngorongoro Crater. Within the crater rim, large herds of zebra and wildebeest graze while sleeping lions laze nearby in the sun. You will spend a full day in the crater, with a stop for a picnic lunch. Dinner and overnight on the crater rim at Ngorongoro Serena Lodge.

Day 3 ~ Drive out to the Serengeti. This area of East Africa's savannah plains has attracted humans for millennia. The whole area is now colloquially known as the short grass plains and is the preferred habitat of hundreds of thousands (perhaps more than a million) of wildebeest. Along the way visit Oldupai Gorge, where Louis and Mary Leakey discovered the hominoid remains of a 1.8 million-year-old skeleton of Australopithecus boisei, one of the distinct links of the human evolutionary chain. Game viewing on the way to camp. Lunch, dinner and overnight at Mbuzi Mawe Tented Camp.

Day 4 ~ Full day in the Serengeti. Lunch dinner and overnight at Mbuzi Mawe Tented Camp.

Day 5 ~ Full day in the Serengeti. Lunch dinner and overnight at Mbuzi Mawe Tented Camp.
