Experience the transformation and empowerment of pilates in East Africa! Join Mona Melms, certified pilates instructor, as she returns to Tanzania to practice the joy of movement on the savanna plains of the Serengeti! Open the day with a pilates mat class, which will awaken your body, readying you for sensory game-viewing and natural beauty experiences. Optional private or duo sessions in the late afternoon will quiet your mind and body for rest.

Participants will be invited to join Mona in a daily pilates mat class and one optional private or duo session during the trip. pilates: flowing progressive movements to flex, extend and rotate the spine designed to reawaken the strength of your own body, improve muscular integrity, core strength, torso stability and abdominal strength; barefoot.

September 23: Depart the United States.

September 24: Arrive Arusha, Tanzania. Overnight at Kia Lodge.

September 25: Depart for Tarangire National Park, an adventure playground for thousands of elephant that is also rich in birds of prey. Famous for its abundance of baobab trees, the park is the fourth largest in Tanzania at about 1,000 square miles. Game drive in the park. Lunch, dinner and overnight at Tarangire Safari Lodge.

September 26: Morning and evening game drive at Tarangire National Park. Midday relaxation and/or nature walk to Lake Manyara, with group exercise along the lake. Lunch, dinner and overnight at Tarangire Safari Lodge.

September 27: After your morning exercise and breakfast, drive to Lake Eyasi in time for lunch. In the afternoon accompany the Ndatoga people on a hunting-gathering walk. The Ndatoga are a herding tribe and your tour will show you the village blacksmith and houses where they live. Lunch, dinner and overnight at Kisima Ngeda Lodge.

September 28: After breakfast, visit the Hadzabe people. Their language resembles the click languages of southern Africa. They live entirely off the bush and from hunting, generally small antelopes and baboons. After your visit, leave for Ngorongoro Crater. Within the crater rim, large herds of zebra and wildebeest graze while sleeping lions laze nearby in the sun. You will spend a full day in the crater, with a stop for a picnic lunch. Dinner and overnight on the crater rim at Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge.

September 29: Depart for Serengeti National Park, East Africa's savannah plains and the preferred habitat of hundreds of thousands of wildebeest. Visit Oldupai Gorge, where Louis and Mary Leakey discovered the hominoid remains of a 1.8 million-year-old skeleton of Australopithecus boisei, one of the distinct links of the human evolutionary chain. Additionally you will visit a Maasai Boma (family village) en route. The day will end with a game drive. Dinner and overnight at Serengeti Serena Lodge.

September 30: Morning and evening game drives in the Serengeti with stops for group exercise. Relaxation midday. Lunch, dinner and overnight at Serengeti Serena Lodge.

October 1: Return to Arusha after breakfast and group exercise via charter flight. Lunch in Arusha. Return to Kilimanjaro International Airport for departure to U.S., Zanzibar extension or transfer to trek(s). Day room at Kia Lodge included.

October 2: Return to U.S.
