9-Day Big Game Walking Safari, Kenya

With over 600,000 acres available for walking, the Masai Mara National Reserve is a fantastic place to see wildlife and the stars! A significant portion of the reserve is only accessible by foot where game trails are abundant, but roads are few and far between. This is how safaris are best conducted here. You will immediately notice the difference between a vehicle tour and one conducted on foot. Senses that may have been a little dulled in a car will strain to perceive indications of the wild game that surrounds you. Your perception of the bush will change until you feel an intimate relationship with the environment itself.

*What exactly is a fly camp?

In the early days of safaris, a hunter looking for game wanted to be able to move light and quick. He would therefore put up a fly camp in remote areas looking for wildlife. "Fly" is the name of the upper sheet of a tent. Hunters would simply take the top sheet, and sleep underneath, hence the name fly camp. This is the unique experience we will be offering you. Depending on the season and on the consequent wildlife movement, we mount a simple camp either on the banks of a river or in the Mara plains.

Your facilities at the fly camp will be a bucket shower, a pit toilet tent, and a double tent with safari beds. Dinner under the stars will be unforgettable, while the river gently flows a few feet away, or zebras bark in the dark. For your bath, hot water will be ready in your bucket shower. While a drink next to the fire, on the river banks or in the plains thriving with wildlife, will make you feel like the first hunters. Experience the wild and become a part of nature for the next 5 days!
